Mission and Vision

Land Acknowledgment

Loleta Union School District expresses our deep gratitude to the Wiyot People, for allowing us to build, educate, and work on their land. Our district is located on the present and ancestral homeland of the Wiyot People, on their unceded territory.

We would like to acknowledge the tribes and nations of Humboldt County, who are the traditional custodians of this land: Bear River, Chilula, Hupa, Karuk, Mattole, Lassik, Tolowa, Wailaki, Wiyot, and Yurok.

In making this land acknowledgment, we understand that words must be supported by meaningful actions. We are committed to ensuring that our approach reflects respect, collaboration, and a commitment to honoring the rich cultural heritage of all indigenous peoples.

We pay our respects to the Wiyot elders, past, present, and future, who call this land their home. We are proud to continue their traditions of coming together and growing as a community.

Our Commitment to Action

At Loleta Union School District, we recognize that words must be matched by meaningful actions. We strive to embody the values of respect, collaboration, and cultural awareness in everything we do.
