Dear Loleta families!

Happy February! February is kindness month here in Loleta! Thank you all for your support of the school and our belief in creating a community where everyone belongs! It begins with a foundation of social and emotional skills, a recognition of the effects of being mean, basic skills in managing anger and other strong emotions and in practicing kindness. We will be focusing on sharing and practicing these skills with one another this month. To teach your children how to self-regulate, help them make great decisions with each other and with studying their academics, we now have our “Sensory Room.” In this room students are learning exercises, strategies, activities and ways of thinking; that help them control their emotions and which aid them in making better choices with staff support and instruction. The word has spread how powerful this is and we now have other districts visiting our school to “check it out!”

Did you catch the cool palindrome on Sunday? A palindrome is a word or phrase that is the same forward or backward. One of the most famous is “a man, a plan, panama.” On Superbowl Sunday the date was a palindrome! 02-02-2020 This only happens  in nearly a thousand years!

February 12th is our first annual Multicultural Day! We will have a special assembly on Wednesday February 12th at 8:45 a.m during which each class will be presenting something they have learned about another culture! That night we are having our monthly Community Dinner sponsored by the LCRC at 5:30 p.m.. Please come and check out the festivities!

February 17th is “Random Acts of Kindness” Day.

The school is currently getting its computer lab upgraded with more functional power and to be able to do state testing. Some of this is happening due to the generosity of the Bear River Rancheria! Thank you for your support!

Congratulations to the boys basketball team! Every game they have improved. We have a young team but we are looking forward to their growing together to become something bigger!!

Welcome Jeff Bertotti! Jeff is a new teacher who is decreasing Heather Nyberg’s class size in the mornings and then helping with the resource caseload in 8th grade during the afternoons. He is a great addition to our Loleta Community!

Remember we will not have school from February 17 – 21 as we celebrate President’s week!

The Board meeting will be on February 27th at 5:30. Please note the date change.

Please join us at our second Stakeholder’s (parent advisory council) meeting on Wednesday, February 26, the week after President’s week as we begin discussions of our LCAP goals, sex ed curriculum and parent, student handbook. This is where we gather input about how we can best address the needs of our community. Your input is so important! See you at the school at 6:00! Room 2.

Thank you teachers, staff,  parents and guardians who give so much to make Loleta Elementary the best school around! Happy February! Autumn
